Iridescent Amber Glass Bowl
A stunning bowl, with quite an unusual construction. Although small; 12 cm diameter and 7 cm exterior height, it is heavy, 600 gms. The interior is stepped and the outside smooth, giving a ribbed optical effect. There is no maker’s mark. The condition is very good, with no chips or cracks.
Clear glass, with milky green swirls, this vase is 12 cm high. It has the original Caithness sticker. There is one small ‘flea bite’ on the rim, otherwise the condition is very good, with no other faults that I can find.
This vase is a very good example of how pressed glass, designed to provide a less expensive alternative to cut glass, can produce objects which are stylish and desirable in their own right. It is 17 cm high and quite heavy at 650 gms. The ruby red flashed colouring is applied to alternate lozenges enhancing the surface texture and light-diffusing qualities of the vase. ‘France’ is in raised lettering on the underside. The condition is very good, with no chips or cracks
A simple, elegant vase; 15.5 cm high. There is one chip of about 0.5 x 0.75 cm at the top, but the design of the vase makes it almost invisible (the vase was photographed with the chip to the front to demonstrate this). There is no maker’s mark.
A lovely vase, which responds wonderfully to different lights. I think that it could be Caithness, but I am not sure. It is 15.5 cm high and 40 cm circumference at its widest point and quite heavy, 800 gms. There are a few ‘flea bites’ on the inside of the rim and some light wear marks on the underside; otherwise the condition is very good, with no other faults that I can find.
This tumbler would also serve as a vase. It is 11 cm high. The underside has in raised lettering ‘Italy’ and the number 12. The mould marks on each side have a lightly incised line running alongside them. The condition is very good, with no chips or cracks
